Take Up Your Cross

23 And he said to all, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.24 For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it.25 For what does it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses or forfeits himself?

Luke 9:23-25 English Standard Version

As I was reading Luke, this verse stood out to me. As people standing on the promise of God, we are at many advantages. God has given us these advantages to see if we would still choose him at the end.

Yes, we can have everything in the world in but at the end, if you don’t have God, then your life has pretty much been in vain. That is why you have to be selfless and take up your cross to follow God. All God wants for us is to say YES to him. Sometime, that may even mean risking everything, to the point of death. In this text, Jesus is talking to his three disciples; John, James, and Peter. Jesus knew that his time on earth was ending because of his high calling, but I don’t think the other disciples realized that. Jesus knew the things that his disciples were about the experience for the sake of the Kingdom of God. So, he just wanted them to realize that and still choose to spread God's words.

In this world, we may have to lose some to gain. I know everybody has either been there or done that. As you know this can be a hard situation. You know why? because it’s hard to give up something, epically not knowing what the outcome may be, but that’s where our faith steps in.

So, today I want to encourage you to step out on faith. Always remember in order to gain what you’ve been praying for; you may have to lose something along the way. If you are having problems trying to see what that certain thing is, I would suggest PRAYING AND FASTING. It works yall!! Fastening is such a special thing, it brings you closer to God and he will reveal to you whatever you been praying for.

Here's an infographic on Fastening. I hope you enjoy it :)
