God Would Never

“God is not a man; he will not lie. God is not a human being; his decisions will not change. If he says he will do something, then he will do it. If he makes a promise, then he will do what he promised.”

Numbers 23:19 ERV

I thought this was a very interesting story in the Bible. So, just to tell you a little about what was happening during this time in Numbers. As you know, the Children of Israel had just left out of exile. The Lord was with them as they traveled and fought countries. At this particular time, they were about to take over the city of Moab. Balak was king during this time, and he saw the Israelites were conquering all the cities. He sends for Balaam, which is a pagan prophet in the Old Testament. Balak wanted Balaam to curse the children of Israel, and he would pay him.

In this passage, you see that every time Balam went to God, he always ended up blessing the people. Balak couldn’t seem to understand, he was like I called you to here to bless them, and you’re contumely blessing them. I think that God used Balaam because he knew he was deceitful and knew that he would change for money. Which is why God says in this very text, that He’s not man; He will not lie. As humans, we have tendencies to lie, to change, or to break promises. God would never do any of those things, and that’s why God tells us to fully rely on him.

I also read where it says as humans when we are under the conviction of sin; we find it exceedingly difficult to rest on the promise of God. I find this to be true because if we are worried about sins, then we won’t be able to focus on the promise of God. God is going to keep his promise, but it's up to us to hold up our end. It would go completely against God's character and very much impossible for God to lie.

Hope is not wishful thinking its confidence that the things God has promised will occur, so let's put our hope in God! He would never let us down.

Prayer

Dear God,

I thank you for not being like Man. I thank you God for always being there and never switching up, even when I do. Lord, I pray that you can help me to be more like you. When a man deceives me, I know that you will be there. May the grace of God cover me in Jesus name I pray
