A Change of Heart

And He said, “What comes out of a man, that defiles a man. 21 For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, 22 thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lewdness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness. 23 All these evil things come from within and defile a man.”

Do you ever stop and think about past feelings you’ve made based off of emotions?

Do you ever regret any of it? Was it worth it? These words will convict you all by themselves

In this end verse, Mark tells us that all these evil things come from within. Sins are internal before there external.

I know as humans we always do things based on our hearts or emotions. However, Jesus basically, said this could be the worst thing to do. Why? because your heart is deceitful of all things and is desperately wicked (Jeremiah 17:9)

When we use our hearts to make choices, we can sometimes make the wrong decision. See with sexual immorality, your heart may tell you to fall into sexual actives because you may THINK you love that person, or you all are boyfriend and girlfriend. Or with murder, your heart may tell you to go kill this person because he killed someone close to you.

Sin is already in us because we were born into sin when Adam and Eve ate the fruit. That's is why God sent his Son to die for us. The troubles in the world only bring out the sins in us, because if sin had not been in us, then sin would not come out. Romans 7:11 says sin took advantage of those commands and deceived me.”

So, I know you wondering well How can I fix this?

A change of heart is the key it can be purified by FAITH. In the Book of Ephesians, Paul tells us to put off our old self which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires and to be RENEWED in the spirit of your minds and put on the NEW SELF created after the likeness of GOD in true righteous and holy.

This devotion hit home for me because a renewed heart is something that I’ve been praying for, for like the past two weeks. It’s okay cause I know I’m not alone. We have to be honest and confess your sins to God, that is the only way he can cleanse and purify you.

Below is the Prayer of repentance by King David

Have mercy upon me, O God, According to Your lovingkindness; According to the multitude of Your tender mercies, Blot out my transgressions. 2 Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, And cleanse me from my sin. 3 For I acknowledge my transgressions, And my sin is always before me. 4 Against You, You only, have I sinned, And done this evil in Your sight— That You may be found just [a]when You speak, And blameless when You judge.

Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me. 11 Do not cast me away from Your presence, And do not take Your Holy Spirit from me.

12 Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, And uphold me by Your generous Spirit. 13 Then I will teach transgressors Your ways, And sinners shall be converted to You.
